"What I’ve always wanted. You. Us."

"I was asking what you wanted right now, but I suppose we can think a bit further out than that.  And I did say you could have whatever you wanted, and I’d give it to you, did I not?  Now, don’t you think you’re a bit overdressed?"

I’m a little know to this… Is there a way to read this from the beginning and all the way thru? What I’ve seen is really good 😊

Explain please?

Is put the milk in first dirty for something? Did she just pick up on him? Or is it just not done that way and it offends his sensibilities? I am so confused. (Please play help the yank.)

I’m a fellow Yank,
gelana78
, so I can’t say for sure, but I think she’s just being pushy, demanding, and difficult.

I thought I read somewhere that you never put the milk in first. I could be wrong, but that was what I thought when I saw this scene.

i’m pretty sure he was horrified because he would always serve lord grantham first, and he was getting ready to make his cup.

Honestly Fellowes, must all lowly townswomen be so crass and rude. Bunting, this lady….I’m starting to see a pattern. Fellowes is such a snob. Haha

As a Brit, I would say it’s the idea of putting the milk in first. I would say(although others may disagree) that a true Briton always puts the milk in last, and Carson is most certainly the truest Briton of them all. Therefore it would really quite annoy him. (Although I do agree with spokethewind, that probably annoyed him as well.)

Even as a Brit I don’t understand what possible other way there is to prepare tea, what goes in before milk?

teabag, water, milk

You do that in a teapot, then you put milk in a cup and pour the tea into that.

yeah yeah but i dont use a teapot - but how do you know how much milk to add??

Who doesn’t use a teapot?? You learn how much you prefer in yours but put only a small amount into a guests cup, allowing for more to be added if necessary.

most people these days i think!! nah add milk last so you know how much you can add to make it the right colour

Fools, teapots are a necessity. I still don’t think that’s how you should make it, it always tastes funny then.

quicker to boil the kettle

I’m not arguing with you about how to make tea, you’ve never complained about taste before so I’m going to agree to disagree.

…. You people are weird… Who the fuck puts milk in tea… You put that shit in your coffee not your tea. You put lemon in tea.

I’m gonna just add to this that if you add the tea after the milk and sugar then you don’t have to dirty a spoon to stir……just saying…..

;-)! Haha!

You don’t add milk first… You run the risk of milk colored tea and that just won’t do. 😊 ( that is all I will say on the subject. I’m a bit of a tea snob 😉)

Downton Abbey: Anna and Bates talk about having children

They’re one of the nicest couples in Downton Abbey, and in this heartwarming clip we see the servants discuss starting a family of their own. Could this be what they need to complete their lives together?

Lovely. I hope there is a parallel “cottage” scene where racy/private Anna “scolds” John for being scandalous in the servant’s hall.

[OK. I’ve stepped out of the S5, post S4, narrative for a bit of fun]

OMFG. BEST HOMEWORK BREAK EVER?

Is this real life or is this fanfiction? (Because the show itself counts as real life, obvi…)

That is beneath you, this is beneath you, I am beneath you…#naughtyBates’

Anna Smith is a thirty something writer who gave up her career when she married a millionaire.  The marriage she thought was for love turns out to be for appearances only and Anna longs for her old life back. She is on a vacation in New York City with her best friend Mary and one night at an outdoor concert she meets business man John Bates.   Without fully understanding it, the two make a connection and after discovering they are both from London they agree to reconnect in a few weeks.  Things become complicated though when Anna’s husband is found dead.  Unbeknownst to Anna her husband leaves her with something very valuable and there are some dangerous people who will do whatever it takes to get it.  John swears to protect her but he has his own secrets.   Can Anna trust John, and if she can’t who can she trust?

This is a fic that I plan to write in its entirety before posting, however I wanted to see if there was interest in something like this.  As the title suggests this fic was inspired by the film Charade starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.  It won’t be exactly like the film, but will have a similar plot. You will also see some recognizable characters from Downton Abbey along the way.

Oh yes! This sounds wonderful!

Absolutely! Yes yes yes!!!! :D

This sounds brilliant!! Also Charade is one of my all time fave movies 😄
